Training workshop on Global Biodiversity Information Facility in Indochina (20-05-2010, at 14:51:00) The Herbarium VNM at Institute of Tropical Biology cooperates with the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) to organize the first training workshop on GBIF for the stakeholders in the Indochina region. Forum on Biodiversity Conservation and Climate Change (Ho Chi Minh City- May 22 , 2010) (21-04-2010, at 15:21:00) In order to set up an action plan for biodiversity conservation and mitigation of climate change impacts in southern of Vietnam. This Forum is an opportunity for all stakeholders to discuss and seek for opportunities such as: Workshop on: Evaluating project VN CBD 600174 and proposing conservation action plan for Takou Nature Reserve in period of 2010-2015 (24-05-2010, at 19:12:00) On March 30, 2010 Center for Biodiversity and Development (CBD), under Institute of Tropical Biology Ho Chi Minh City in cooperation with Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Binh Thuan province and Takou Nature Reserve organized a workshop on ''Evaluating project VN CBD 600174 and proposing conservation action plans for Takou Nature Reserve in period of 2010-2015'' Contest on ''Understanding the environment and biodiversity'' of 6 communes in the buffer of Takou Nature Reserve (10-04-2010, at 16:53:00) The contest on “Understanding the environment and biodiversity", which is under Netherlands IUCN’s sponsorship in the framework of VN CBD project no. 600,174, was organized on March 7, 2010 by Center for Biodiversity and Development (CBD) under Institute of Tropical Biology (ITB) in cooperation with Management unit of Takou Nature Reserve. Community workshops at Takou Nature Reserve (18-03-2010, at 16:30:00) From Jan 29, 2010 to Feb 3, 2010, Center for Biodiversity and Development (CBD) coordinated with People's Committees of 4 communes: Tan Thanh, Tan Thuan, Ham Minh, Thuan Quy -Thuan Nam town and Takou Nature Reserve to held six community workshops in buffer zone of Takou Nature Reserve. The workshops’s goal is to Primate monitoring program in Bu Gia Map National Park (09-01-2010, at 22:15:00) Bu Gia Map National Park (NP) is located in Bu Gia Map district (former Phuoc Long District), Binh Phuoc province. It was established in 2002 with a total area of about 26.000ha. Seven primate species have been recorded in this area include Pygmy loris Nycticebus pymaeus, Stump-tailed macaque Macaca arctoides, Pig-tailed macaque Macaca leonina, Long-tailed macaque Macaca fascicularis, Annamese silvered langur Trachypithecus margarita, black-shanked Douc Pygathrix nigripes and Yellow-cheeked crested gibbon Nomascus gabriellae. (31-12-2009, at 11:57:00) With a view of propaganda preparation on forest and environment conservation, as well as the competition on" Environment protection and Biodiversity preservation " which will take place on February 2010, several activities are played out as follows: Workshop on sharing of biodiversity information in Asia (24-11-2009, at 10:47:00) From November 16 to 19, 2009 at Hotel Imperial Queen's Park Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, Global Biodiversity Information Facility in combination with ASEAN Center for Biodiversity - ACB held an Asian GBIF Workshop and Information Science about Biodiversity. COMMUNITY WORKSHOP “CONSERVATION AND SUBTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FOR THE KARST IN KIEN LUONG DISTRICT” (21-10-2009, at 17:25:00) From October 4th to 10th 2009, Center for Biodiversity and Development (CBD) coordinated with People’s Committees Binh An, Duong Hoa, Binh Tri communes and Kien Luong town to organize the community workshop titled “Conservation and Sustainable Development at Karst area in Kien Luong district” in Kien Luong district, Kien Giang province of Mekong Delta, Vietnam. This workshop was funded by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN-Vietnam) and Holcim Vietnam Ltd. More information about Gaur (Bos gaurus) in Phuoc Binh National Park (16-11-2009, at 14:42:00) As the news about individual Gaurs which often have appeared in Buffer zone of Phuoc Binh National Park, Ninh Thuan Province since June 2009, these Gaurs now get used to hunting for food together with domestic cows.(as picture below).
