A brief record of Bird sanctuary in U Minh Thuong National Park (NP) (13-10-2011, at 08:18:00)
Beginning Sep 20th through 24th, 2011 Center for Biodiversity and Development (CBD) conducted a rapid assessment on the status of biodiversity in U Minh Thuong NP (Kien Giang province). The Bird Sanctuary in U Minh Thuong NP is currently experiencing flooding season and therefore many waterfowls utilize this area for migration, including threatened species. The current status of the bird sanctuary is well protected by the national park, which helps to facilitate observation and investigation.
Discovery of Irrawaddy Dolphin (Orcaella brevirotis) in Kien Giang Biosphere Reserve (17-09-2011, at 04:37:00)
In early September, researchers of the Center for Biodiversity and Development (CBD) discovered and recorded a population of Irrawaddy dolphin in areas around Ba Lua archipelago – Kien Giang Biosphere Reserve, Kien Giang Province, Vietnam.

The Black-shanked douc langur (Pygathrix nigripes) is a species of primate endemic to Indochina. This species occurs in southern Viet Nam between the 17th parallel and 10045 N.

Primate monitoring program in Bu Gia Map National Park (09-01-2010, at 22:15:00)
Bu Gia Map National Park (NP) is located in Bu Gia Map district (former Phuoc Long District), Binh Phuoc province. It was established in 2002 with a total area of about 26.000ha. Seven primate species have been recorded in this area include Pygmy loris Nycticebus pymaeus, Stump-tailed macaque Macaca arctoides, Pig-tailed macaque Macaca leonina, Long-tailed macaque Macaca fascicularis, Annamese silvered langur Trachypithecus margarita, black-shanked Douc Pygathrix nigripes and Yellow-cheeked crested gibbon Nomascus gabriellae.

From October 4th to 10th 2009, Center for Biodiversity and Development (CBD) coordinated with People’s Committees Binh An, Duong Hoa, Binh Tri communes and Kien Luong town to organize the community workshop titled “Conservation and Sustainable Development at Karst area in Kien Luong district” in Kien Luong district, Kien Giang province of Mekong Delta, Vietnam. A training course on BRAHMS is going to be conducted at the herbarium VNM of the Institute of Tropical Biology during 17-22 August 2009. The purpose of the course is to provide a comprehensive BRAHMS training course for plant herbarium management and research with potential participants from Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

From November 16 to 19, 2009 at Hotel Imperial Queen's Park Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, Global Biodiversity Information Facility in combination with ASEAN Center for Biodiversity - ACB held an Asian GBIF Workshop and Information Science about Biodiversity.

As the news about individual Gaurs which often have appeared in Buffer zone of Phuoc Binh National Park, Ninh Thuan Province since June 2009, these Gaurs now get used to hunting for food together with domestic cows.(as picture below).
Two weeks with the Gray-shanked doucs (Pygathrix cinerea) in Quảng Nam Province (08-10-2009, at 09:41:00)
In July 2009 a successful survey was conducted that identified a population of gray-shanked doucs, a critically endangered primate species, and selected a focal group for studying the home range and its relationship to forest structure for this species at this site. In mid-August a the survey team of the Center for Biodiversity and Development returned to Hon Mo Mountain, Ninh Phuoc Commune, Nong Son District of Quang Nam Province to continue study of gray shanked doucs. The survey is supported by Primate Conservation, Inc.
The globally threatened plants in Indochina to be re-assessed (24-09-2009, at 07:02:00)
The inception and planning workshop of the project “Assessment of the Status and Distribution of Globally Threatened Plant Species in Indochina” supported by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) is held on 15-16 Septembre, 2009 at Army Guesthouse, Hanoi.
